As we bid farewell to Dr. Anthony Alvarado, who has served as the principal of Ida Jew Academy & Valle Vista Elementary (IJAVVE) for the past three years, we also welcome familiar faces in new positions.

Mr. Gilbert Rodriguez will be taking over Dr. Alvarado's position. With Mr. Rodriguez's three years of leadership at Mt. Pleasant/Ida Jew ALAS (MPIJA), we look forward to the positive impact he will make at IJAVVE.

Mrs. Jessica Tejada will become the new principal of MPIJA. She has been the Preschool Program Director since 2022, ensuring success and growth for the youngest of our community. Before that, she was a student advisor at Ida Jew Academy. In her new position for the 2026-27 school year, she will be serving as both principal and director.

Thank you to Dr. Alvarado for all of your hard work, and good luck in the next chapter of your career! Mr. Rodriguez and Mrs. Tejada, we can't wait for what's in store!

We are excited to offer the Mt. Pleasant After School (MPAS) Program for the 2026–27 school year! The MPAS program is free for all MPESD students. If more students register than we have space for, priority will be given to students who:

• Qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Meals
• Are experiencing homelessness
• Are in foster care

In previous years, we have been able to enroll nearly all students who registered. If the program reaches capacity, additional students will be placed on a waitlist. We expect to follow the same process this year.

Our Summer Meals Program is returning this year! For children ages 0 to 18, there will be free breakfast and lunch available at two of our campuses. Please see below for more information:

Dates Open: June 17, 2026 - July 30, 2026 (closed on June 19th and July 3rd)
Breakfast Hours: 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
Lunch Hours: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Families and students who are new to Mount Pleasant Elementary School District can now begin the enrollment process with us. All grade levels are open for enrollment, including Preschool (students between 2 years, 9 months to 4 years), Transitional Kindergarten (students turning 4 years old by September 1), and Kindergarten (students turning 5 by September 1).

Early registration is encouraged, as it ensures that we can plan and communicate with you effectively.
