On Monday evening, October 27th, 2025, MPESD gathered with the other districts of the County of Santa Clara to recognize outstanding teachers. Principal Raquel Topete, Principal Anthony Alvarado, and Principal Tammy Rankin-Conover were in attendance to represent the district and celebrate the five teachers chosen by SCCOE:

• Rebecca Nash, Civil Leadership Award
• Ernie Sandoval, Civil Leadership Award
• Neha Kapil, Curiosity in STEM Award
• Rajani Sankarappan, Perseverance in STEM Award
• Kelsey Meder, MPESD Teacher of the Year

Ms. Meder was also interviewed in a special collection of videos alongside fellow Teachers of the Year, where she talks about how she was Drawn to Education.

Although the night is over, the achievements of our teachers remain just as bright. Let's celebrate them with pride together!

On May 30, 2025, the California Department of Education (CDE) hosted the California School Recognition Program (CSRP) Awards Ceremony at the Disneyland Hotel Conference Center, located in Anaheim. Dr. Elida MacArthur, Dr. Anthony Alvarado, Alyssa Friend, and Lisa Pereira made the trip to represent Ida Jew Academy & Valle Vista Elementary for receiving the 2024 Civic Learning Award of Distinction, proudly standing alongside the representatives of other exemplary schools in California.

We are honored to have a strong, spirited community recognized by the CDE, with the MPESD spirit embodied in our staff and students. As we get closer to the end of the 2024-25 school year, let's look back on what we've achieved with all of our big and small victories.
