Transferring Into MPESD
If you would like to transfer into MPESD, you must go to your resident district for their interdistrict transfer request form. If your form is approved, then your resident district will reach out to us so that the Superintendent can review the paperwork.
Note: You are not required to file a request with your residential district if your student is being enrolled in Ida Jew Academy.
Transferring Out of MPESD
Families who reside within the Mount Pleasant Elementary School District boundaries may submit an Interdistrict Transfer Request Form if they want their student to attend another district's school. Soft copies are on this page, and hard copies are also available at the District Office. Forms MUST be submitted directly to the Superintendent's Office at the District Office. Transfer Steps
- Complete and sign the above form.
- Be sure to include the school year your form corresponds to (ex. 25-26 for the 2025-2026 school year). This is critical to ensure we process your correctly.
- If you do not know your school of residence, click here.
- Gather the necessary documents to attach.
- If your student is not currently enrolled in an MPESD school and is entering Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten, please also provide proof of residency within MPESD boundaries.
- Submit your packet to the Office of the Superintendent with one of the following methods:
- Email Felicia Le at fle@mpesd.org.
- Drop it off at the MPESD District Office (3434 Marten Avenue, San Jose, CA 95148-1300).
- Mail it to the MPESD District Office with "ATTN: Interdistrict Transfer".
Please note that incomplete forms will be denied. If they are missing required documents, they will also be denied.
The use of false information will invalidate the request.
Transportation to the requested district will be the parent's/guardian's responsibility.
Timeline
Transfer requests for the current school year are processed within thirty (30) business days.
Transfer requests for the next school year will not be processed until March 1st of the current school year. Once it is March, they will be processed within thirty (30) business days.
No matter when they are approved, transfer requests will only be valid until the end of the school year requested. A new form must be completed for the next school year separately.
New law regarding Interdistrict Attendance Agreements
The Interdistrict Transfer Process applies to those parents who wish their children to attend school in a district other than that in which they reside. All Interdistrict Transfer requests must be initiated in the district of residence.
