Kindness Week

  • Kindness

    (Posted: February 2024)

The AB Community participated in a week of kindness to focus on being caring (including self-care), respectful, grateful, and inclusive. These are characteristics that we want in all our students, and it was wonderful to witness the Bobcats at their best. In homeroom, students participated in a series of activities including: writing kind messages and posting it on a classroom wall for others to see, writing kind messages in chalk on the sidewalk, greeting and speaking to each other politely, and performing an act of kindness for others in the AB community.

Thank you to the BEST Team (Ms. Norma, Ms. Tapia, Ms. Trudy, Ms. Kolman, Ms. Capitola-Duran), Ms. Michelle, faculty, staff, Coach Savage, and students for all their work and effort in making our Kindness Week a successful one.

Tech Challenge Club visits Tech Museum

  • Field Trip

    (Posted: February 2024)

Students from Ms. Kapil’s Tech Challenge Club visited the Tech Museum to deepen their understanding of science and innovation. The club allows students to pursue their passion for science and builds their ability to work as a member of a team. Tech Challenge Club members work in teams of 2-6 people and develop scientific payloads throughout the school year. Some payloads are judged in competition, but what is most important is the human and academic growth that students experience.

If you are interested in joining the club, please contact Ms. Kapil at nkapil@mpesd.org

Mindfulness in the Classroom

  • Mindfulness

    (Posted December 2023)

AB employs a whole child approach to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected. Part of that approach is coaching students on mindfulness and how to ground themselves during times of social emotional stress. The tactics students learn can be used to protect and preserve their mental health so that they can focus on curricular activities.

AB has a Social Emotional Coach that pushes into classrooms to take the teachers and students through wellness and mindfulness exercises before learning begins. Our coach also provides Rise Up groups for students to get training to become student mindfulness leaders. In addition, students who need social emotional support outside of the classroom can go to our Wellness Center, staffed by our social emotional counseling staff.

Boeger Parent Speaks out at Town Hall

  • Town Hall

    (Posted September 2023)

According to the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), East San Jose high schools receive $11K less per pupil than those of the neighboring district just 6 miles away. This is unjust and it cannot stand!

Helping to sound the call was an August Boeger Middle School parent accompanied by her young son. A product of the LEAF parent education program offered to AB parents, she eloquently and profoundly made the case that now is the time to act on behalf of our children. It was informative and inspirational to hear from parents and a distinguished group of Superintendents, elected officials, and community members advocating for our East San Jose students.

    (Posted September 2023)

The AB community came together to interact about learning opportunities and support services the school and its partners offer. Parents and students were greeted by the Bobcat Band and Principal Topete at the entrance of the AB Gymnasium. Faculty, staff, administrators, and community assets thoughtfully set up and decorated the space to make sure that all felt welcome at their home away from home. It was a wonderful experience and is one of the many opportunities parents will have to engage with the school in the education of their child.
