August Boeger Middle School's Career Day was a success! Career Day presenters, former students and other community professionals from various career fields, including career pathway representatives engaged and shared their knowledge, expertise, and advice with our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Thank you to all that came out to empower and inspire our students.

Among the presenters was Victor Noguera, an alum of August Boeger Middle School who is now an engineer. The story of his educational and career journey included his experience as an English Language Learner and how a high school English teacher inspired and prepared him for success. That English teacher was Ms. Raquel Topete, the current AB Principal, who asked Victor to come back to his alma mater to share his story with her middle school students. Victor is proof that AB students can succeed when provided support, opportunities, and a caring role model.

Mindfulness in the Classroom

  • Mindfulness

    (Posted December 2023)

AB employs a whole child approach to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected. Part of that approach is coaching students on mindfulness and how to ground themselves during times of social emotional stress. The tactics students learn can be used to protect and preserve their mental health so that they can focus on curricular activities.

AB has a Social Emotional Coach that pushes into classrooms to take the teachers and students through wellness and mindfulness exercises before learning begins. Our coach also provides Rise Up groups for students to get training to become student mindfulness leaders. In addition, students who need social emotional support outside of the classroom can go to our Wellness Center, staffed by our social emotional counseling staff.
