Kindergarteners are innately amazing and innovative explorers who fearlessly imagine and create without conventional limiitations.
Welcome to Kindergarten at Mount Pleasant Elementary STEAM Academy! My name is Ms. Okada and I have been a part of the Mount Pleasant Elementary School District family since 2015.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California but relocated to San Jose. I love going to Disneyland, going shopping, watching movies, visiting my friends and family in southern California, taking tea, watching broadway musicals, visiting museums, traveling and spending time with my husband and pets.
I began my teaching career as an early childhood teacher, focusing on the social-emotional and cognitive growth of children ages 3-6. This led to my participation as a student researcher exploring cognitive and perceptual development in early childhood learners and eventually presenting my findings in symposiums at University of California, Los Angeles, California State Univerisity, Los Angeles and Santa Clara University. My inquries of further cognitive development would eventually lead me to becoming a California educator. I have taught Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd grade for nearly two decades. I am so thrilled to support our Kindergartem student leaders and their families in a successful year of discovery and learning. Welcome to our newest Eagles! It's time to spread your wings and soar. The sky is the limit!
I strongly encourage parents and families to join our ClassDojo page by signing up with an e-mail or smartphone number. Sign-up through the website at www.classdojo.com or download the App. Classdojo messaging is the easiest way to communicate with me and my response time is typically within 24 hours. Another convenient feature allows parents to instantly recieve annoucements and information from the teacher via messaging. Please contact me if you are having any difficulty connecting. I will gladly assist you!
Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss said it best.
"Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted." (Dr. Seuss)
