Background and Education

I grew up in east Texas and southern California before attending college in Nebraska.  I completed my B.S. in Elementary Education at Grace University and my Master's in Reading at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  I worked in afterschool programs at the Hope Center for Kids and taught 6th grade for Omaha Public Schools before joining the talented 6th grade team at August Boeger.

Philosophy of Education

It is my core belief that all students are innately curious, capable and talented!  Every young person has unique strengths and talents that they can discover, explore, cultivate and utilize to contribute to the world around them.  Tapping into strengths provides motivation as students grow as learners.  All students can learn, grow and achieve meaningful goals that move them towards educational success and preparation for post-secondary and career.  Teaching and fostering a growth mindset helps students learn through mistakes to master new areas of knowledge and skill.  I am excited to develop students as passionate learners!
