Dina Chung, Principal
Welcome to Mount Pleasant Elementary STEAM Academy! We are looking forward to your becoming a part of the outstanding tradition that was started over 100 years ago.
I have been serving in education for about 20 years as a classroom teacher, Intervention teacher, Student Advisor/Vice Principal, and Principal.
I believe that all children are important and can and will succeed. My core values include access, growth mindset, high expectations, rigor, and equity. I am a life long learner who is open, passionate and committed to our students.
Our school is currently in our third year of Leader in Me implementation and we are excited about empowering our students with instruction and student leadership. Leader in Me is all about instruction! The first year of implementation was about building the mindset of the 7 Habits. The second year of implementation was about equipping our students with tools and strategies such as goal making so that they can be successful life long learners. The third year of implementation is empowering our students with student led learning, building trusting relationships, and collaborating/planning/reflecting. "Empowering instruction is an approach to education that puts the focus on learning. When the students learn how to learn, they can become empowered to lead their own learning."
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
On behalf of all of the staff at Mount Pleasant, welcome again to 2019-2020 school year.
