Mariel Nuñez, Principal

  • You never know where life will take you. The past two years I was Student Advisor of Ida Jew Academy and this year I am the Principal.

I grew up in the Mt. Pleasant District, Robert Sanders is where I attended elementary school. It was thanks to a 5th grade teacher in this district that I decided I wanted to go into teaching.  While at Mt. Pleasant High School, I was awarded a scholarship from the East Side Future Teacher's Project to attend Santa Clara University. I obtained my Bachelor Degree, Credential and Masters degree from SCU.

When I first started at MPESD I taught Kindergarten, then First grade at both Robert Sanders and Ida Jew Academy in the Dual Immersion Program.  Soon after I became the Intervention Teacher at Ida Jew Academy which eventually led me into the Student Advisor position. This is my 17th year in the district and I am excited to be the Principal at IJA and look forward to serving our community.
