Mrs. Mia Cruz, Principal
I have always wanted to be an educator ever since I was in 5th grade. I attended the Berryessa Union School District and Independence High School. I was fortunate to have such great mentors growing up that I pursued in becoming a teacher. I received my BA in Liberal Studies with Minor in Spanish at San Jose State University. While attaining my teaching credential and Master's Degree through National University, I started teaching at Mt. Pleasant Elementary as a Kindergarten and 2nd-grade teacher in 2000. After teaching five years, I became their Literacy Coach. I moved to be the Assistant Principal at Robert Sanders then on to August Boeger Middle School where I was the administrator for 7 years. What a wonderful experience to be working with middle school students.
I have been a part of August Boeger, Mt Pleasant, Robert Sanders and now Valle Vista. My two sons attend Ida Jew Academy. I can't wait to see what new experiences there will be at Valle Vista.
I love spending time with my family. My sons, Naythan and Dawson are involved in sports. As a working mom, I make sure to set some time aside for them. Some of the activities that we do together include going to sports events, watching a movie, or getting fit together. This year we participated in the Turkey Trot and Santa Run. These were so fun that we'd do it again next year.
