Therapeutic Program Support

Helen Huynh serves as the South East Santa Clara SELPA's Program Administrator for Children with Emotional and Behavioral Needs. Helen assists district staff by providing guidance in the areas of school mental health and positive behavior strategies and interventions on as as needed basis. Support in this domain includes the strategic implementation of evidence-based practices in the areas of classroom environment, classroom management/positive behavioral supports, and accommodations.  Legal and ethical considerations for the purposes of establishing a safe and predictable environment for students to be successful are prioritized.

As a Program Administrator for Children with Emotional and Behavioral Needs, Helen may assist in the following capacity: 
  • Coach and/or consult with service providers and administrators on school mental health, behavior accommodations, and best practices
  • Provide training in the area of classroom and behavior management systems for parents and staff, including de-escalation and restraint training
  • Recommend curricular resources and evaluate the effectiveness of programs for individuals with emotional disabilities
  • Facilitate on site staff development
  • Engage in Alternate Dispute Resolution activities
  • Monitor compliance with behavioral regulations
  • Provide programmatic feedback
